Dax is a native of Southern California. He is a twin and the middle of three children of Walter and Yvonne Houston. Both of his parents received masters in Music Education and music has always played a central role in his life. At an early age, Dax began his musical training with the flute and performed with his older sister and twin brother around the house and at family events. At school Dax would entertain classmates on the playground by imitating Michael Jackson and George Michael. In middle school, he met his sister’s acting teacher Jack Schlatter, who shared his passion for acting and ultimately inspired Dax to pursue acting as a career.
While at Los Alamitos High School in Orange County, Dax led a real-life Glee lifestyle, developing his musicality and acting talents in show choirs and theatre productions, as well as being an All-Star defensive lineman for one of the top high-school football teams in the nation.
Dax’s move to Northern California to attend San Jose State University paired him with fabulous Broadway actress and Professor Janie Scott and her song-and-dance ensemble Company One. While at San Jose State University, he was introduced to ballet, jazz, tap, modern dance and toured with the Bay Area’s hottest dance troupe Visual Rhythm. In addition to graduating from the University’s Creative Arts program, Dax trained at the American Musical Theatre of San Jose’s Artist Institute.
After working as a vocalist around the world, Dax is currently studying with acting coach Roselyn Coleman in New York.
